How it works

  1. You upload a photo
The browser resizes it before upload. We analyze it once and do not keep the image file after analysis.
  2. Vision model → JSON
A vision model returns structured estimates only: room type, light, wall hex, and hexes for fixed things (floors, cabinets, trim, etc.).
  3. Our engine picks from our database
A deterministic matcher (undertone harmony, LRV for light level, wall/trim contrast, CIEDE2000) selects only colors that exist in our catalog — Sherwin-Williams, Benjamin Moore, Behr, Valspar, Farrow & Ball.
  4. Three palettes
Light & Airy, Warm & Cozy, and Bold — each with walls, trim, ceiling, and sometimes an accent, plus plain-language why.
  5. You sample
Screens lie. Order peel-and-stick or brand samples before you buy gallons.

FinchFile is independent. Paint brands own their names and color systems.
