Privacy Policy

FinchFile (“we”, “us”) provides a browser-based tool that converts CSV, TSV, and JSON into Excel (.xlsx). This policy explains what we collect and why.
1. File processing
Parsing and Excel generation run in your browser. We do not upload your spreadsheet contents to FinchFile servers for conversion, and we do not train AI models on your files.
If you use Ask Finch (optional AI agent), we send column headers and small sample cell values to Anthropic (Claude) so the agent can explain Excel risks and suggest types. We do not send your entire file for that feature.
2. Account & billing data
When you sign in or pay, we process:
- Email and display name (via our auth provider, Clerk)
- Plan status, file credits, and subscription metadata (stored in our database)
- Payment details handled by Stripe (we store limited card brand/last4 when Stripe provides them — not full card numbers)
3. Contact & newsletter
If you use a contact form or subscribe for tips, we store your email, message, and related metadata so we can reply and send product emails. You can ask to be removed by emailing hello@finchfile.com.
4. Cookies & similar tech
We use cookies/local storage for sessions, auth, and product preferences. Payment and auth partners may set their own cookies under their policies.
5. Service providers
We use trusted processors such as Cloudflare (hosting), Clerk (auth), Stripe (payments), and Resend (email). They process data only to provide their services.
6. Retention
Account and billing records are kept while your account is active and as needed for legal, tax, and fraud prevention. Contact messages are retained for support quality.
7. Your choices
You may request access, correction, or deletion of account data by emailing hello@finchfile.com. Cancel Pro anytime via Account → Stripe Customer Portal.
8. Children
FinchFile is not directed to children under 16.
9. Changes
We may update this policy. Continued use after changes means you accept the updated policy.
